[exp] [/exp]I’ve seen Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at the Fox several times now, and it’s on my short list of can’t-miss shows. It’s one of the most impressive productions I’ve ever seen–the athleticism, the art, all of it…it’s beautifully done. The tour returns to Atlanta February 14-18, 2018, and it’ll be a new experience even if you’ve seen Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater perform before.
FYI–Friday, February 16, is MLK 50–Celebrating the Legacy night at Alvin Ailey, and the evening’s mix of dances features “r-Evolution, Dream.” Choreographer Hope Boykin created the work, which is inspired by King’s speeches & sermons, after she felt a ballet while viewing historical footage from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s funeral during a visit to the Center for Civil & Human Rights in Atlanta.
