[exp] [/exp]A Taste of the Highlands will take place on May 14, 2011. What is it? Like most “Taste of” events, you can sample the wares of restaurants in the Virginia-Highlands area. But unlike most “Taste of” events, your ticket covers the cost of your food & drink (including alcoholic ones for those of age) during the event. Yummy. And there’ll be live music by Down Since One and Whoa Nelly Bluegrass Band.
Tickets are $40 in advance & higher at the door. Students can snag tickets for $30 each, and it’s only $15 for kids ages 6-16. The list of participating restaurants is long & includes 4th and Swift, Alon’s Bakery and Market, D.B.A. Barbecue, Diesel Filling Station, Doc Chey’s, Ecco, Genki Noodles & Sushi, La Tavola, Midtown Tavern, Murphy’s, The Original El Taco, HOBNOB, Osteria 832, Pozole, Rosebud, The Warren City Club, & Woody’s Cheesecake, to name a few. And how could I leave this out? Proceeds benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (thanks for the reminder, Bill).
A Taste of the Highlands will take place Saturday, May 14, 2011 (from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm) at John Howell Park in Virginia-Highland.

Hi Jennifer – thanks for reporting this, it’s our favorite festival if the year! Please also remind your readers that it benefits Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta, so it’s a great way for foodies to do a little good.
