My art skills are lacking. Seriously lacking. In fact, some of my attempts to create things are downright pathetic. I’ve determined that it’s not so much a lack of skill as a lack of proper instruction. Next time I’m up in Buford, I’m going to head to Tannery Row Artist Colony for Thursday Things, a free & cheap workshop experience.
From 11:00 a.m.-noon, both artists with studios at Tannery Row & other working artists in the community lead demos, workshops, group discussions about their craft. Most of the events are free, though some require a small fee to offset the cost of supplies.
There’s always something going on at Tannery Row on Thursdays. With one recent project, participants spent two weeks crafting clay luminaries. This week’s free workshop will focus on beginning poetry writing. On August 6, there’ll be a polymer clay jewelry demonstration, and on August 13, you’ll see how to make felt cupcakes. Check the website to see what’s planned for that week before you go.
While you’re there, take time to browse through the studios & see the art (which is also for sale, in case you happen to fall in love with a piece…).
There’s no registration required, but if you have questions, you’re welcome to call Judy at 678-428-4877. Tannery Row is located at 554 W. Main St. Bldg. C, Buford.
Thanks to Creative Side for the lead.
