Here are just a few of the free ways to honor the legacy of Dr. King this week:
- Thursday, January 12, 2012, at 10:00 a.m.: State of Georgia Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission program at the State Capitol, North Wing, in Atlanta.
- Sunday, January 15, 2012, 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.: The King Center Book Signing with Dr. Christine King Farris, author of “Through It All,” “March On” and “My Brother Martin,” and Dr. Angela Farris Watkins, author of “My Uncle Martin’s Big Heart.” The King Center, Freedom Hall Auditorium.
- Monday, January 16, 2012, at 10:00 a.m.: The Martin Luther King, Jr. Annual Commemorative Service. Seating is limited. Ebenezer Baptist Church, Horizon Sanctuary, 407 Auburn Ave. NE, Atlanta. Keynote speaker: Dr. Frederick D. Haynes III, Senior Pastor of Friendship, West Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.
- Monday, January 16, 2012: The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Project. Service opportunities coordinated by Hands on Atlanta.
