On February 6, the Atlanta History Center presents Party with the Past. The event is FREE and takes place at the popular West End brewery, Monday Night Garage.
When it comes to fun-and-free events, Party with the Past is an Editor’s Pick here at Atlanta on the Cheap. This brilliant program connects the community to the historic locations all around us — and features cold brews at a really cool venue.
Here’s what you need to know:
- The event runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6.
- At 7:30, a “history chat” features guest speaker Clyde Higgs, president & CEO of the Atlanta BeltLine. He’ll talk about the history and future of the BeltLine, as well as the abandoned rail corridor that was re-purposed into our current greenway.
- BONUS: Awesome swag! The first 200 guests to arrive and check in will receive a FREE Monday Night Brewing pint glass. (Hint: come early!)
- While the event is free, you should RSVP online so the organizers know you’re coming.
Located in Atlanta’s historic West End, Monday Night Garage is adjacent to the BeltLine’s Westside trail — which follows a portion of the tracks once used by the historic Louisville and Nashville railroad tracks.
The “L&N,” as it was known, was one of the premier Southern railroads. It operated for over 130 years, surviving the Civil War, the Great Recession, and two World Wars.
About the venue
Monday Night Brewing is an Atlanta-based craft brewery with an extensive offering.
The Garage is Monday Night Brewing’s southwest Atlanta outpost, located in the Lee + White development. According to the brewery’s founders, the Garage is their “home for barrel aged, sour beers and experimentation.”
The Garage is a 12-minute walk from the West End MARTA Station.
Note that while the address is 933 Lee Street SW, the entrance is on White St. If you’re using a GPS app, plug in 1003 White St for more accurate mapping results.
