Easter sunrise service at Stone Mountain Park is an Atlanta bucket list item — and it’s back for 2024!
There are two simultaneous, inter-denominational services on Easter Sunday, April 9th, 2023. So, you can watch the sun rise from the top of Stone Mountain, for from the Memorial Lawn at the base of the mountain.
The service itself is free to attend.
But, as every Atlantan knows, nothing at Stone Mountain is ever completely free. To start with, it’s $20 to park (or $40 for a parking permit that’s good for 12 months from the purchase date).
Currently, you can SAVE $5 on an annual parking pass — that’s just $35 instead of $40!
If you walk to the top of the mountain (or attend the service down on the lawn), that’s free. But if you want to ride the cable car to the top, it’s $20 round-trip and $15 one way.
Church vans and buses can park for free.
And of course, once you’re in the park, you can stay and enjoy some of the attractions.

The details
Park gates open at 3 a.m. and the skyride opens at 4 a.m.
Services begin at 7 a.m.
Both services will feature sign language interpreters for hearing-impaired guests.
There are often large crowds at Stone Mountain on Easter morning, so please allow yourself plenty of time (an extra hour is suggested) to get through the park gates, find a parking spot, and get yourself to the mountain top or find a spot on the lawn.
