Warner Bros. is making the film Just Mercy widely available to stream at no cost. The movie stars Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Foxx and Brie Larson. It is based on the powerful and thought-provoking true story of young lawyer Bryan Stevenson (played by Jordan) and his history-making battle for justice.
According to the studio, “We believe in the power of story. ‘Just Mercy’ is one resource we can offer to those who are interested in learning more about the systemic racism that plagues our society.”
For the month of June, the film will be available to rent for FREE on digital platforms in the U.S.

The plot goes like this:
After graduating from Harvard, young lawyer Bryan Stevenson had his pick of lucrative jobs. Instead, he headed to Alabama to defend those wrongly condemned and unable to afford proper representation.
One of his first, and most incendiary, cases is that of Walter McMillian (played by Foxx), who, in 1987, was sentenced to die for the notorious murder of an 18-year-old girl, despite a preponderance of evidence proving his innocence — and the fact that the main testimony against him came from a criminal with a motive to lie.
In the years that follow, Bryan becomes embroiled in a labyrinth of legal and political maneuverings, as well as overt and unabashed racism as he fights for Walter, and others like him, with the odds—and the system—stacked against them.
You can stream the film on virtually any streaming device, or rent on-demand for free on most cable systems. It will also stream for free on YouTube.

I agree with Jessica’s above comment. It really is a shame.
