Starting in August, select Walmart Supercenters will transform their parking lots into contact-free drive-in movie theaters.
Will we get a Walmart drive-in theater or two around metro Atlanta? We are betting on yes!
Walmart has indicated the pop-up theaters will happen at Walmart Supercenters, and we have plenty of those — over 50 in the extended metro area.
Here’s what we know so far, from a Walmart press release:
Walmart will transform 160 of its Supercenter parking lots into drive-in movie theaters, for a combined 320 showings nationwide.
These family-friendly movie nights will include hit movies, special appearances from filmmakers and celebrities, and concessions delivered right to your car.
The drive-in movies will run from August through October.
Walmart will make it easy for you to fill your picnic basket — just order online for curbside pickup ahead of the movie.
We’ll update this post when we find out if, when, and where Walmart will be presenting drive-in movies in Atlanta!
But whether or not Walmart decides to bring drive-in movies to Atlanta, you’re still able to enjoy to enjoy films from your car. The Starlight Drive-In is a permanent theater in East Atlanta, and we’re seeing more pop-up drive-in theaters at various venues.
