Celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)
Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a vibrant Mexican holiday celebrated from October 31 to November 2. This festive occasion is dedicated to honoring and remembering loved ones who have passed away.
Unlike Halloween, which focuses on spookiness, Día de los Muertos is a joyful celebration of life and death. Traditional elements include colorful altars, marigolds, sugar skulls, and traditional foods.

Save the date for Atlanta Streets Alive
Sunday, November 17, 2024
During Streets Alive, for four glorious hours, miles of Atlanta roads are closed to cars — and open for people to stroll, roll, bike, and play!
This fall, the route will stretch from Atlanta’s West End to Grant Park — connecting seven southwest neighborhoods via Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. and Georgia Ave.
Can’t make it? No worries!

This Gwinnett County farm is open to the public on weekends. The admission fee for the barn tours includes one bag of feed, so you can give the friendly alpacas a healthy snack when you visit them in their pens. According to the farm’s website, tour groups are limited to around 10 people and happen at an easy pace.

Experience the magic of a Candlelight Concert
Candlelight concerts bring the magic of a live, multi-sensory musical experience to awe-inspiring locations around metro Atlanta.
These are live performances in intimate venues, lit by flickering candles. The concerts range from iconic classical music to tributes to pop artists like Adele and Queen.

Titanic: An Immersive Voyage
This NEW immersive exhibit just landed at the Exhibition Hub Art Center, on Buford Highway at I-285. It allows you to virtually hop aboard the Titanic and walk through life-sized recreations of parts of the infamous ship.
You can also:
- Discover an impressive collection of artifacts related to the Titanic’s short life
- Relive the ship’s final dramatic moments from a lifeboat in an immersive room
- Dive into the depths of the ocean aboard a virtual submersible and discover the RMS Titanic’s wreck site
- Learn about the story of the Titanic—from its creation to the crash and aftermath
Horizon of Kufu: Take a virtual reality trip thru ancient Egypt
Horizon of Khufu has landed in Atlanta, completely reshaping the immersive experience. Step back into the golden age of ancient Egypt, where you can relive the reign of King Khufu and explore the iconic pyramids from 4500 years ago.
The 45-minute virtual reality experience costs $27 for adults, and $24 for kids, seniors, military, and students.
It’s located in the same building as the Illuminarium, at 550 Somerset Terrace NE, Atlanta 30306.

View the Super Beaver Moon
On Friday, November 15th, the full moon will shine brightly in the Atlanta skies. It will be a Super Moon, which is perfect for amateur sky-gazers to enjoy — because you simply can’t miss it. The moon will appear full to your eyes a day before and a day after peak fullness, so you’ll have three days to view this celestial event.
The November full moon is also known as the Beaver Moon.

Get outside for some woodland walks and easy hikes
Enjoy the cooler, less humid days on one of these easy trails — you’re likely to see some fall wildflowers like asters and wild ageratum, as well as some colorful foliage.
• Cobb County Trail of the Month program will meet at Hyde Farm Park (Marietta), on November 9, 2024. Register in advance.
• Wednesday morning group walks at Mason Mill Park are lead by a guide, starting at 10 a.m. each Wednesday. No reservation needed!

- Visit old homestead ruins on the nature trail at Mary Scott Nature Park

Garden Lights, Holiday Nights at the Atlanta Botanical Garden
The 2024 light display combines new features with perennial favorites. The lights are on from 5 to 10 p.m. each night, including Thanksgiving Day. However, capacity is limited and prices are higher this year. You’ll want to make a reservation well in advance.
