After much speculation over the last few years, Bed Bath & Beyond just announced they are filing for bankruptcy.
The major retailer was once the go-to store for many household essentials, but the times have changed. Every bargain hunter was highly aware of the retailer’s ubiquitous 20% off coupons, often even keeping a secret stockpile for a discounted shopping spree.
However, it seems the coupons were not good enough to keep business going, as more people turned to online shopping for all of those kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom items.
About those coupons…
You still have a chance to use your blue coupons!
Your last chance to redeem your remaining 20% OFF coupons was Tuesday, April 25th.
However, The Container Store recently tweeted that they will redeem the BB&B coupons through May 31, 2023! They will be good for 20% OFF a single item of your choice.

Big Lots is also accepting BB&B coupons!
You can bring your now-expired coupon to any Big Lots store, through May 7, 2023, to get 20% OFF your entire purchase of $50 or more. There’s only one catch — you’ll have to sign up for Big Rewards loyalty program, if you’re not already a member.

Our best guess is that the going-out-of-business sale will happen in tiers, with merchandise being marked down progressively each week, until the shelves are nearly bare.
So when you shop the sale depends on what kind of bargain hunter you are.
If you want the best selection, go early and expect to get less of a discount. If you go for steep discounts, you accept that everything will be picked over and you stand less chance of finding items that are highly desirable to you.

More ways this bankruptcy may affect you:
♦ Returns and exchanges will continue, per the store’s existing policy through May 24 — for items purchased prior to April 23. So if you have something you’ve meant to return, do it now!
♦ Gift cards, gift certificates, and loyalty certificates will be accepted through May 8th, 2023. Again, if you have any type of gift card or store credit with BB&B, use it now!
♦ Coupons and Welcome+ Rewards will not be accepted after Wednesday, April 26th.
♦ All in-stock orders placed online both prior to and after the bankruptcy filing are expected to be fulfilled. Note the wording that includes “in-stock.” If your item is on back order, you likely won’t receive it.
