Where to celebrate Three Kings Day, Dia de Reyes, in Atlanta and suburbs — event listing for 2024.
While some people take down their Christmas decorations before New Year’s Day, others celebrate the Christmas holiday for 11 more days!
You’ve heard the song about the 12 Days of Christmas, but you may not know that the those twelve days actually start on Christmas Day and go through January 6th, which is known as Three Kings Day.
Traditionally, the Twelve Days of Christmas conclude on January 6th each year.
The day is also known as Epiphany or Twelfth Night, and it marks the day the three wise men (the Magi) arrive at the stable in Bethlehem to greet the baby Jesus with their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
For many families, this celebration is as important as Christmas!
Want to celebrate Three Kings Day, also known as Dia de Reyes? See the events listed below!
In Latin countries, children leave a box filled with hay under their beds the night before, or leave their shoes by the door, so the kings will leave presents for them.
The traditional treat associated with Three Kings Day is rosca de reyes — a sweet, yeasty bread that’s baked in a ring to represent a crown. It’s quite easy to find in metro Atlanta! We recommend visiting one of the Latin groceries or panaderias (bakeries) along Buford Highway in Brookhaven, Chamblee, Doraville, or Norcross. Or, you could do a google search for “panaderia near me” to find one in your area.
