Come to Mason Mill Park to view the full lunar eclipse and Blood Moon with Ranger Jonah!
This is the perfect event for night owls — it takes place from 1:30 a.m. to 3:30 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025.
The event is FREE to attend.
Mason Mill Park usually closes at sunset, but on this night it will be open for viewing an uncommon celestial event.
Want to watch the lunar eclipse and blood moon from your own yard? Or view a live steam?
We have the complete scoop on how to do that!
The complete eclipse, from start to finish, will be viewable from Atlanta.
This is notable because, with some lunar eclipses, parts of it are below the horizon where we can’t see it.
The maximum eclipse point occurs at 2:58 a.m. on March 14th.
You’ll be watching the lunar eclipsed from the South Peachtree Creek Trail bridge that extends over the railroad tracks.
The designated viewing spot is a 0.1 mile walk from the parking lot, and there will be signs to direct you to the bridge.
Plan to park near South Peachtree Creek trailhead, near the Tennis Center. This is the lot at the corner of Mason Mill Rd and McConnell Drive.
The viewing party is a “drop-in” event, so you can come anytime between 1:30 and 3:30 a.m.
Your next chances to view a total lunar eclipse in Atlanta include:
March 3, 2026
June 26, 2029
If you’d like to attend, please register via Eventbrite so the organizers know how many people to expect.
No dogs, please!
