Atlantans, you are invited on an incredible journey! To promote its new film, The Aeronauts, Amazon Prime Video is hosting a special event in Piedmont Park on Tuesday, December 10th, 2019, from 3 to 8 p.m. It is FREE to attend and family-friendly.
The immersive experience has been dubbed The Aeronauts’ Incredible Journey.
The organizers tell us that this experience will bring the spirit and magic of 1862 to Piedmont Park — in the form of a sprawling Victorian fair that features performers in period costume, exhibits that showcase the marvels of the era, and two hot air balloons (including a functional replica of the “Mammoth” balloon that started it all).
From the press release:
Come marvel at the wonders in store!
– Hot air balloon tether rides on a replica of the “Mammoth” Balloon—as featured in the film (weather permitting)
– Clever cartoonists, fantastic fortune tellers, and happy hypnotists
– The magic of science in all its glory
– The finest fair food and beverages
– Astounding giveaways
– Games of all kinds
– Fun for the whole family
Everything you’ll find at the event has been inspired by the movie, which stars Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones. The Aeronauts will be in theaters on December 6th, and available to stream on Amazon Prime Video on December 20th.
The Amazon release tells the amazing true story of scientist James Glashier (Eddie Redmayne) and pilot Amelia Wren (Felicity Jones), who in 1862 took a flight in a hot air balloon called the Mammoth.
While the event is FREE to attend, the organizers ask that you please RSVP through Eventbrite, so they know how many people to plan for.
