Barbie was the surprise blockbuster hit of the summer of 2023, becoming Warner Bros. highest growing domestic release ever. Critics and audiences adored the film, which actively challenged stereotypes about women and femininity.
If you haven’t seen the movie in the theater yet, or if you’d like to enjoy it again from home, the movie is now available to rent or buy via Amazon Prime Video. You do not have to be a Prime member to rent or buy the movie, but you will need an Amazon account.
The price tag is a little steep — $24.99 for a 48-hour rental.
Still, if you’re planning a viewing party with family or friends, the price per person will work out to far less than theater tickets would cost. You can save big by making popcorn at home, or ordering pizza.
You can also purchase the movie for $29.99, which means the digital version will be available to watch on demand via your Amazon account forever.
And if you’d rather buy the DVD, you can pre-order now for $19.99, but you won’t receive your copy until late February in 2024.
The Blu-Ray pre-order price is $24.96.
If you rent the movie from Amazon Video, you have 30 days to start watching.
Once you start the movie, your rental is active for 48 hours.
Do I need a Prime membership to rent or buy movies?
No, you do not need an Amazon Prime membership to use Prime Video!
You can rent or buy movies from the Prime Video catalog without being a Prime member. All you need is an active Amazon account. Your rentals and purchases from the Prime Video Store are automatically charged to your 1-Click payment method.
Because Barbie is still in theaters, even Prime members will have to pay to rent or buy this title. It is NOT streaming for “free” on any of the subscription services yet.
