The bike tours are back! From April to November, you can take advantage of guided bicycle tours on the Atlanta BeltLine. The bike tours are offered by the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership and take place on Saturday mornings. (If you don’t have a bike, you can rent one on the cheap when you register for a tour.)
So far in 2024, there are tours scheduled for the Westside Trail and Northwest Trail.
Most likely the Eastside Trail is simply too crowded for bike tours these days.
NOTE that the tours are no longer free, but require a $10 donation to the Atlanta Beltline Partnership. If you cannot afford the donation, but still wish to participate, please reach out to info@atlblp.org.
Things to know:
- You’ll be with an experienced guide for the duration of the tour.
- There are rest stops on each tour, but you should be capable of biking 10-12 miles.
- You must register for a tour in advance, online. See the registration details below.
- Helmets are required. Bring anything else you need, like a water bottle.
- Tour groups are limited to 25 people and can fill up quickly — so if this is something you’d like to do this fall, reserve your spot now!
- Cyclists must be at least 13 years old (small children can ride in a safety seat attached to an adult’s bike).
- This year, you’ll make a $10 donation when you register.
- You may use your own bicycle, or rent one for the tour. (You’ll reserve your rental bike during the registration process.)
- In case of bad weather, you’ll be notified of a cancellation no later than 7:30 a.m. the morning of the tour (and possibly the night before).

The Eastside Trail bike tour — not offered in 2024

You’ll check in at 8:45 a.m., depart at 9 a.m. sharp, and return around noon.
In the past, the Eastside Trail tours offered battery-assisted Jump bikes at a flat rate of $27 with a special discount code. The Atlanta Beltline Partnership has advised us that it’s safe to assume a similar price point for bike and helmet rental.

The Southside Interim Trail bike tour — not offered in 2024
We’ll update when this tour is offered again
The four-mile Southside Interim Trail is now open for use in an unpaved but graded condition. You’ll find packed dirt, sand, and gravel as a base, so you’ll need a suitable bike with good tires.
Two different bike tours along the Southside Trail were introduced at the end of August. Unfortunately, the short tour, which went from the Atlanta Beltline Center to the Lee + White development, filled up right away — no spots remain at this time. (We’ll update this page when more tours are added, possibly not until spring.)
However, if you’re up for a challenge, you can sign up for the new Ansley-Park-to-Washington-Park Tour. You’ll cover a lot of ground — Eastside, Southside, and Westside Trails.
This tour is 13 miles one way or 26 miles round trip. The one-way option involves pedaling from the tour’s end point at Washington Park to the Ashby MARTA Station, and taking the train back to the Eastside.
This tour starts behind the Ansley Square shopping center, where there’s an access point to the Northeast Interim Trail.
You’ll check in by 9:45 a.m., depart at 10 a.m., and arrive at Washington Park by 2 p.m.
Highlights of this tour include:
- Piedmont Park
- Ponce City Market
- Historic Fourth Ward Park & Skatepark
- The Atlanta BeltLine Center
- Edge OTB Development
- Krog Street Tunnel
- Hulsey Railyard
- Boulevard Crossing Park
- D. H. Stanton Park
