I’m 100% a cat person, but alas, this is not a good time for me to have a pet. That said, I now have a way to get my cat fix & caffeine fix at the same time.
I’ve been following both Java Cats Cafe & Happy Tabby Cat Cafe on Facebook since they opened in Atlanta last year, but I’d yet to make it out for some much-needed time with my feline friends.
That changed today: Java Cats Cafe brought the concept to the ‘burbs, so I checked out the Marietta location to see how it all works.
The premise is simple: You buy an hour of cuddle time with 12+ cats in, essentially, a cage-free shelter. And it’s a pawsitively purrfect experience (ok, ok…I’ll quit with the word plays….). When you wander in, you can grab a cup of coffee or tea & then head back to cat heaven for some quiet time with the critters. Consider yourself warned: All of the furry friends are adoptable. But if you fall in love & realize there’s no way you can adopt another animal, you can still help out by sponsoring a cat, covering their adoption costs to make it even easier for them to find their furever home (last one…maybe).

- Reservations required: Yes and no. Walk-ins are welcome ($5 buys 30 minutes), but it’s wiser to book your hour time-slot in advance, as the number of guests allowed at one time is limited for the comfort of the cats.
