2014’s Decorators’ Show House & Gardens features Palazzo Rosa. Per the summary: “One of the most recognized historic family homes in Atlanta, this Italian Baroque-styled masterpiece was designed by architects Neel Reid and Philip Shutze and built in the 1920’s for the Rhodes family. Designed for lavish entertaining, the home has been the scene for many a grand affair from charity functions to children’s birthday parties, including Palazzo Rosa, the 2014 Decorators Show House and Gardens. Since this home, also sometimes called ‘The Pink Palace’ because of its previous pink color and pink dogwood trees, has served twice before as our symphony’s show house (1979 and 2003), you’ll enjoy viewing the evolution of styles and the attention to detail that our designers have given to The home is also now a “green” house. During a prior renovation, the home was outfitted with a geo-thermal heating and cooling system, with electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and telecommunications being updated with ease of care and maintenance in mind. Even more surprising when one considers the fact that this was all done without having to sacrifice any of the homes’ charm and patina. The house is as “cutting edge” now as it was back in 1926.”
