The DeKalb History Center is going virtual for its 13th annual Black History Month event.
The program, Growing in Power and Promise will take place over Zoom. It will focus on African American genealogy in Atlanta and DeKalb County.
It takes place on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The program will celebrate the African American families who shaped DeKalb’s and Atlanta’s histories from the Reconstruction era through the present time.
Topics covered will include how to start your own genealogy search..
Speakers include:
Tamika Strong, reference archivist of the Georgia Archives
Winifred Hemphill, president of South-View Cemetery Association
Johnny Waites, director and curator of the Flat Rock Archives
Laurel Wilson, historian of Decatur’s African American heritage.
Tickets are $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
