Welcome to February! The days are getting longer, there are a few spring flowers emerging, and 2024 is well underway. Whether you’re looking for winter fun indoors or outdoors, we have you covered — this is your monthly guide to free and cheap fun in the chilly month of February.

♦ Super Museum Sunday
On Sunday, February 11, 2024, the Georgia History Festival is sponsoring Super Museum Sunday. It’s a day of FREE admission at participating museums and historic sites all across the state of Georgia.
There are over 100 participating museums and historic sites in Georgia — including many within an easy drive of metro Atlanta.

• The High Museum of Art hosts its Second Sundays FREE day on February 11, 2024. PLUS the Access for All FREE day is Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

• The Museums On Us program offers free admission to Bank of America cardholders at four metro-area museums on February 3rd and 4th. This includes the High Museum, Tellus Museum, Atlanta History Center, and Center for Civil & Human Rights.

• Sunday Funday is a FREE drop-in day for families at the Carlos Museum. It’s happening on February 4, 2024.
• The Marietta History Center hosts its FREE monthly Family Fun Day on Saturday, February 17, 2024.
♦ Black History Month
Black History Month, which takes place in February every year, is celebrated throughout the metro Atlanta area with festivals, storytelling, performances, parades, cultural events, pop-up markets and much more.
In 2024, there are so many FREE events and activities to take advantage of!
In particular, there are quite a few free movie screenings, including Black Panther, Hidden Figures, and more titles that tell African American stories. The libraries are offering kids crafts and story hours.

♦ Lunar New Year
The Chinese Lunar New Year falls on Saturday, February 10, 2024 and it’s the Year of the Dragon!
There are many activities and local festivals to enjoy for free, plus the big Atlanta Lunar New Year Festival in Chamblee is back, after a long hiatus during the pandemic.
And all month long, you can head to Atlantic Station’s Lunar New Year display, featuring a huge, fog-breathing dragon and nightly lantern shows at the top of each hour.

♦ Emory’s Annual Pajama Concert
On Friday, February 9, 2024, the Carlos Museum will host an evening of musical bedtime stories in a family-friendly concert. The Pajama Concert for Families is an annual event. It’s designed for young audiences, but is perfect for music lovers of any age. Admission is FREE.

♦ Emory’s Annual Bach Bowl concert
Emory’s annual Bach Bowl concert returns in 2024 on Super Bowl Sunday, February 11th. As always, the concert starts at 4 p.m. and lasts about an hour.
The concert and game are planned NOT to overlap, so come out on Super Bowl Sunday for the Bach Bowl — a FREE chamber music concert before the big game!

♦ Ice Cream for Breakfast Day
Saturday, February 3, 2024, is National Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day.

♦ National Frozen Yogurt Day
Celebrate International Frozen Yogurt Day in Atlanta! The date is Tuesday, February 6, 2024. And it’s a luscious reminder to get out and explore your city by trying a new yogurt shop, a new flavor, or new toppings.
Each year, frozen yogurt shops mark the day with deals, discounts, and (sometimes) freebies. Most commonly, we see BOGO offers so you can eat froyo with a friend and split the cost.

♦ Winter walks and easy hikes
The February weather is fickle in Atlanta, but there are usually plenty of days suitable for walking or hiking — just dress appropriately.
• Cobb County Trail of the Month program will meet at Lost Mountain Park on Saturday, February 1o, 2024. Register in advance.
• Wednesday morning group walks at Mason Mill Park are lead by a guide, starting at 10 a.m. each Wednesday. No reservation needed!
• The Enchanted Woodland Trail at Chattahoochee Nature Center is open all month long! Free with the price of admission.
• Here’s a short list of some of our favorite winter walks to do on your own:
- Stroll around the lake and thru the woods at Murphey-Candler Park
- Visit old homestead ruins on the nature trail at Mary Scott Nature Park
- Walk the paved trail at the Peachtree Creek Greenway
♦ Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience
This immersive exhibit lets you step into a Van Gogh painting as you explore his life and work through 360-degree digital projections and a virtual reality excursion through the French countryside. It’s running all month long.
Located at the new Exhibition Hub Art Center, 5660 Buford Highway in Doraville.
There are over 250 FREE parking spots here, and it’s right off I-285 near Spaghetti Junction.

♦ Valentine’s Day & Galentine’s Day
Celebrate the season of love around Atlanta!

The earliest of the spring consignment sales in Atlanta start in February, then continue thru March.

♦ Tutankhamun: His Tomb and Treasures
This exhibit features to-scale replicas of the treasures found within King Tut’s tomb, and offers a captivating look into the wonders of Ancient Egypt. It is currently running at the Exhibition Hub Art Center, located at 5660 Buford Hwy in Doraville (near the 285 interchange), through the whole month of February.

♦ Play in the snow
The Snow Island winter fun park is open at Lanier Islands on weekends through February 25, 2024.
You can play in the snow, tube down a huge snow hill, ice skate, and more.
♦ Atlanta Brick Con
Attention Lego fans! Atlanta Brick Con, the ultimate Lego fan event, is a two-day extravaganza, from Saturday, Feb. 10th to Sunday, Feb. 11th. It’s at the Gas South Convention Center in Duluth.
With over 50,000 sq ft of incredible Lego creations, fan displays, games and more, it’s a must-see for all ages. Explore vendors for rare Lego sets, enjoy building zones, meet characters and be amazed by professional builder displays.
