Maybe you’ve heard that Americans will be able to get FREE N95 masks very soon. That initiative is rolling out now.
The federal government partnered with the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program for COVID-19 Vaccinations, in order to increase access to higher quality face masks, known as N95 respirators. These masks have become more readily available, and have proved to be more effective than cloth masks at filtering out viruses.
You may have already signed up for FREE Covid self-test kits (if not, click thru the link to find out how to get yours!) While the free Covid tests will be delivered with your mail, the FREE N95 masks will require more effort on your part. You’ll need to stop into your local grocery or drug store to get yours.
Under this new program, 400 million N95 masks will be sent to pharmacies and grocery stores around the country.
Each person can receive three free masks, anywhere they are available.
Some stores have already received their first delivery of masks and have started distributing them. Other chains expect to start receiving mask shipments in February.
You might want to call ahead to your preferred pharmacy or grocery chain to check on supply.
N95 masks get their name from the fact they can filter out 95% of airborne particles, which includes viruses.
