NOTE: We don’t have a date for 2024 yet, but we will update as soon as details are released.
Frühlingsfest is German for “spring festival” — and if you love the winter Christkindl Market, you’ll love this German-style street festival, featuring Germanic culture and local artists.
The city of Avondale Estates has partnered with a local German cultural organization to bring Frühlingsfest to the downtown entertainment district in Avondale Estates.
Frühlingsfest will take place on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from noon to 6 p.m.
After the festival closes at 6 p.m., you’re invited to stay for a concert from 6 to 8 p.m. — no word on who the headline act will be.
This is a family-friendly event and it is FREE to attend.
Note that if you are 21+ and wish to drink alcoholic beverages, you’ll need to purchase a $15 wristband.
Over 80 local artists will be selling their work, and you can see a list of participants online. You’ll be able to shop for candles, jewelry, textile art, bath & body products, baked goods, chocolate, leather goods, and more.
This year, there will be new and classic German cars on display throughout the festival grounds.
Come hungry!
You’ll find a wide range of German-fusion food and beverages, including locally crafted German-style beers.
A partial list of food vendors (see them all here) includes:
- Bernhard’s German Bakery
- Das Sweet Treat
- Love Chimney Cakes (see below!)
- Woodstock Pretzel Company
- The Beer Growler
- Wild Heaven Beer
- and more!
There will also be live entertainment on four stages, literally all day long.
You can see the music schedule online.
The entertainment district of downtown Avondale Estates is home to a sparkling arts scene, and three craft breweries.

If you’ve never tried a German chimney cake, now is your chance! The pastries are made from a sweet yeast dough that is rolled into a long rope and baked around a cylinder — each one is made fresh while you watch!
You choose your fillings and toppings, and just pull apart the spiral pastry to eat it (you may need a fork for the fillings). In the picture below, we chose Nutella and strawberries, with a dollop of vanilla ice cream.
