Are you (or a friend or family member) serving a felony probation sentence in Georgia?
A new law now creates a path for early termination of probation. On January 26, 2022, the Georgia Justice Project (GJP) will host a virtual question-and-answer session for Georgia residents who qualify for the program but may be experiencing roadblocks along the way.
The info below is from press release about the FREE event.
Georgia Justice Project Holds Upcoming Virtual Q&A for Georgians on Probation
Georgia Justice Project (GJP) will be holding a virtual Q&A on January 26th at 4PM EST. The event is for any Georgians who may qualify for early termination of their felony probation sentence, but are experiencing roadblocks along the way.
At this free event, GJP attorneys will answer questions concerning issues people are having with the early termination process.
Last year, the GJP helped pass SB 105 — a new law that creates a clear path for Georgians to pursue early termination of their felony probation, after certain milestones have been met.
Over 191,000 people are serving felony probation sentences in Georgia, including many Georgians who are no longer in need of supervision. SB 105 reduces the number of individuals serving lengthy probation sentences in Georgia. It provides incentives and hope for those serving long sentences, and saves Georgia over $34 million a year spent supervising individuals who qualify for early termination.
If you are serving a felony probation sentence imposed within the state of Georgia, think you qualify for early termination under SB 105, have reached out to your probation officer, and are still experiencing issues with this process, join GJP’s next Q&A to have your questions answered!

About GJP:
For 35 years, Georgia Justice Project (GJP) has served Georgians impacted by the criminal legal system. GJP approaches social change in three ways: through legal and social services – including holistic criminal defense, early termination of probation, criminal record clearing, and other reentry services; by advocating for a better Georgia, resulting in 21 changes to Georgia law so far; and by educating communities statewide on criminal justice and reentry issues. These approaches advance GJP’s goals to lower the number of Georgians under correctional control and reduce barriers to reentry.
