Kick off the Labor Day Weekend with a FREE movie and concert at the Mill on Etowah on Friday, September 1, 2023.
The event has a lot of local significance.
The feature-length movie, Jesse’s Gift, premiered this August at the Cobb International Film Festival, at Marietta’s Strand Theatre. It was written, produced, and directed by local filmmaker Ken Merritt, CEO of Off The Rail Productions, based in Marietta.
The event also features an outdoor concert by Michael Merritt, the singer/songwriter who plays Jesse in the film. He will perform songs from the movie.
The music starts at 7 p.m. and the movie rolls at 7:45 p.m.
The Mill on Etowah is a refurbished cotton mill with boutique shops, restaurants, a brewery, and more. The middle green space contains a large LED screen and stage, creating a dynamic spot for a concert and movie event. There is FREE parking on site, and the venue often hosts free events.

About the film
The feature film Jesse’s Gift is based on a short student film with the same name, produced in 2021. The short film won many awards including the Spotlight Short Film Award.
Jesse’s Gift is about a washed-up musician on the brink of losing everything that matters, until he finds new hope through a gift from his dying father. It is an inspirational movie that touches on many issues affecting families everywhere.
The film was filmed in various locations around the greater Atlanta area, including Cherokee County.
The soundtrack features Michael Merritt’s original music in various genres, including rock, country, and blues.
