LifeLine Animal Project is preparing for kitten season! Every spring, the shelters are flooded with kittens — from helpless newborn bottle babies to those who can eat and explore on their own, but need time to grow before they can be safely placed for adoption.
On Sunday, March 24th, Dekalb County Animal Services will host a kitten shower to get ready for the precious little bundles. The event takes place from 1 to 2 p.m.
The kitten shower is FREE and open to the public.
Come for a look at the facility’s kitten nursery, light refreshments, and maybe a snuggle or two. If you can bring a shower gift, that’s even better. The shelter could use fleece baby blankets, powdered kitten formula, Miracle nipples (don’t laugh — they work!), canned kitten food, dry kitten food, Yesterday’s News brand litter, and bottle-feeding supplies.
View the kitten wishlist here. You can see the preferred brands of kitten food and kitty litter for the wee ones.
If you can’t bring a gift with you, just bring yourself — or consider sending a gift from the shelter’s Amazon wishlist.
There’s more information on the event’s Facebook page.
Want to learn how you can foster a litter of kittens in your own home this spring or summer? The shelter’s foster coordinator will be on hand to tell you all about this rewarding opportunity.
Dekalb County’s brand new animal shelter is operated by LifeLine Animal Project. It is located at 3280 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, in Chamblee. There is ample free parking in front of the shelter — just come in the door labeled Adoptions.
