• The High Museum Art hosts its Second Sundays FREE day on March 10, 2024.

• The High Museum also hosts its FREE Access For All program on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 — you need to register in advance for this one.
• The Museums On Us program offers FREE admission to Bank of America cardholders at four metro-area museums on March 2nd and 3rd. This includes the High Museum, Tellus Museum, Atlanta History Center, and Center for Civil & Human Rights.

• Sunday Funday is a FREE drop-in day for families at the Carlos Museum. It’s happening on March 3, 2024.
• The Marietta History Center hosts its FREE monthly Family Fun Day on Saturday, March 16, 2024.

Several non-profit organizations in metro Atlanta host these FREE events in March or April. Students in grades 8 to 12 can register to try on dresses at a pop-up boutique. Shoes, jewelry, and accessories are also available.

March 1 & 2, 2024
Coolray Field in Lawrenceville
FREE admission and parking
The festival will feature two days of barbecue competition with many options for food and drink.
Beer and wine is available to those 21 and over.
There will also be continuous live music and a vendor village, with 100 booths selling crafts, clothing, jewelry, and more.

♦ Atlanta Science Festival
March 9 – 23, 2024
Multiple locations
Each year, the Atlanta Science Festival is hosts close to 100 dynamic events, spread across Atlanta and the suburbs. Many are FREE, although some have a small charge. The events are designed for all age groups and all interests, making science fun.
Family-friendly events include outdoor scavenger hunts and discovery walks.

March 23 & 24, 2024
Georgia International Horse Park
This festival is older and more well established than its inside-the-Perimeter counterpart in Brookhaven.

♦ Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience
This immersive exhibit lets you step into a Van Gogh painting as you explore his life and work through 360-degree digital projections and a virtual reality excursion through the French countryside. It’s running all month long.
Located at the new Exhibition Hub Art Center, 5660 Buford Highway in Doraville.
There are over 250 FREE parking spots here, and it’s right off I-285 near Spaghetti Junction.

It’s all about the intersection of math and food! Retailers and restaurants use this day to offer baked pies and pizzas for the low price of $3.14 OR they offer a discount of $3.14.

Atlanta’s longest running parade! It is held on the Saturday just before St. Patricks Day and travels along Peachtree Street.

Blackburn Park
The festival has gained a reputation for its incredible music line-up. It also includes an art market, food vendors galore, family-friendly activities in the Kidz Zone, a classic car show, and more. Festival admission and all the concerts are FREE.

♦ Atlanta Fair
March 1 to April 7, 2024
Old Turner Field
This is Georgia’s only urban fair, taking place downtown in the GRAY LOT of the stadium. It features plenty of exciting rides and your favorite carnival cuisine. There’s also nightly entertainment, like concerts and dance troupes.

♦ Atlanta Purim Parade & Festival
March 17, 2024
Beth Jacob Synagogue
This is a variable event that may take place in February or March, depending on when the Purim holiday falls. The parade usually takes place along LaVista Rd, which is closed to traffic. The festival, complete with carnival rides, games, traditional Purim food, and more takes place at the Synagogue. Admission is FREE, but you’ll need tickets for the food vendors and rides.

♦ Tutankhamun: His Tomb and Treasures
This exhibit features to-scale replicas of the treasures found within King Tut’s tomb, and offers a captivating look into the wonders of Ancient Egypt. It is currently running at the Exhibition Hub Art Center, located at 5660 Buford Hwy in Doraville (near the 285 interchange), through the whole month of March.

♦ Atlanta Exploration Expo
March 23, 2024
Piedmont Park
The Exploration Expo is the grand finale event to the Atlanta Science Festival. It’s a festival in its own right, with live performances, food trucks, vendor booths, and fun.

♦ Spring walks and easy hikes
The March weather may be fickle in Atlanta, but there are plenty of days suitable for walking or hiking — just dress appropriately.
• Cobb County Trail of the Month program will meet at Heritage Park on Saturday, March 9, 2024. Register in advance.
• Wednesday morning group walks at Mason Mill Park are lead by a guide, starting at 10 a.m. each Wednesday. No reservation needed!
