“Mominatrix’s Guide to Sex” Book Launch Party: January 23 at The BeeHive Co-op

I don’t blog about many book signings/release parties, but I’m making an exception for this one: 1) It gives me an excuse to type Mominatrix, which is just a fun word, & 2) The author, Kristen Chase, writes one of the best blogs around: Motherhood Uncensored.

The event: From 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. on January 23, The BeeHive Co-op will host the book launch party for The Mominatrix’s Guide to Sex. There’ll be free naughty & nice drinks (translation: wine/beer & juice boxes), pink velvet cupcakes & tea from Pink Butterfly Sweets, & mom-friendly door prizes from Eden Fantasys. 15% of book sales & 15% of BeeHive Co-op’s sales during the event will be donated to Hope 4 Anissa, a fund for a local mom & blogger who recently suffered a stroke. Kids who can read/spell welcome at your own risk.

The why: If you’re a mom (or mom-to-be) who has discovered that life with kids isn’t all puppies & roses, you should check out Chase’s blog, Motherhood Uncensored. It’s refreshingly honest. In fact, it’s so refreshingly honest that Chase was asked to offer sex advice on The Imperfect Parent. With that, the Mominatrix column was born, which then grew into a book.

In the spirit of research, I picked up a copy of The Mominatrix’s Guide to Sex at Borders last week (and I moved four of the books from their home in “Sexuality” to the front “Resolutions” table where they belong, but I digress…). Ladies, be warned: If you invite me to a baby shower, you will be receiving this book from me as your gift (I’ll toss in a onesie, too).

It’s a must-read for moms. We all swear it will never happen to us when we have kids, but give it a year or two (or heck, a few sleepless nights), and before you know it, your make-up has long since expired & you can’t recall the last time you wore your hair in anything other than a ponytail. The book covers everything from having (and enjoying) sex while pregnant to getting your sexy back post-baby to spicing up your love life.
