FREE doughnut alert! Celebrate National Doughnut Day in Atlanta on Friday, June 7th, 2024 with a freebie or deal from a wide variety of doughnut shops.
The food holiday is traditionally celebrated on the first Friday of June.
And the best part is that some of the biggest names in doughnuts will join in the celebration by handing out FREE donuts.
According to Wikipedia and multiple other sources, National Donut Day was originally established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I.

Revolution Doughnuts opened on National Doughnut Day in 2012, which means they are celebrating their 12th birthday this year. In a Facebook post, they hinted that they were working on some special treats for National Doughnut Day. We’ll update when we know more!

We haven’t seen a special offer from Sarah Donuts, but some people consider these handmade confections to be the best doughnuts in Atlanta. If you’re near a shop, pop in for some doughnut love or a breakfast sandwich.

♦ Giggle Monsters Craft Donuts
This is the shop that bills itself as “The only local donut brand daily creating from scratch, hand-crafted yummy donuts with monster-size.”
While they didn’t offer a freebie, Giggle Monsters put out a warm welcome on Facebook, complete with scrumptious photos, to anyone looking for a place at which to celebrate National Donut Day.

Yep, Walmart is in! Just head to the bakery section of your local Walmart or Walmart SuperCenter and get a free glazed doughnut. One per person, while supplies last. The national retailer plans to give away 1.2 million doughnuts!
Kroger (not free, but a good deal!) — NOT YET VERIFIED FOR 2023
Kroger grocery stores will be offering a dozen glazed doughnuts for $2.88 (with a Kroger store card) and will also highlight two seasonal flavors: blueberry glazed and strawberry-lemonade glazed. Both flavors are available by the half dozen.
