Many retailers offer Memorial Day deals to active and retired members of the military.
Here’s a few Memorial Day deals from Atlanta and beyond.
REMINDER: You may need a valid military ID or first responder ID in order to redeem some of these freebies and discounts.
Restaurant and retail deals
McCormick & Schmick’s: On Monday, May 27th, active members of U.S. military and National Guard, as well as veterans, can get a free lunch or dinner entrée. There is a location in downtown Atlanta.
Firebirds Wood-Fired Grill: Treat a hero to a free meal on Monday, May 27th. Dine with a veteran, active duty service member, or Gold Star family member and get that person’s meal for free. You’ll receive one complimentary military entrée that is equal or less in price to your own entrée purchase. Locally, you find this chain in Peachtree Corners and Alpharetta.
Ace Hardware
On Saturday, May 23, 2020 all participating locations of Ace Hardware are giving away free American flags, while supplies last. They’re giving away one million flags across the country.

Goodyear Auto Service: From May 23-27, Goodyear Auto Service and Just Tires locations nationwide will offer active and retired military FREE car care checks and 10 percent off of Goodyear Tires. For the first 2,000 free car care checks scheduled, they’ll make a donation up to $10,000 to military support organization, Honor and Remember. This discount can be used in conjunction with up to $275 in tire-related rebates. Military members can book their appointment at www.JustTires.com/military and www.GoodyearAutoService.com/military. As long as qualifying guests make their appointment by May 27, they can take advantage of this deal through June 13.
Home Depot
According Military Wallet, Home Depot gives a 10% military discount every day of the year. There are some exclusions.
7-Eleven: From May 25-27th, 7-Eleven will salute U.S. military veterans for their service by partnering with Veterans Advantage to offer members a free medium coffee or Big Gulp® Memorial Day weekend. You have to register for these discounts, so click the link for details.
Kohl’s: This department store chain recently announced “Military Mondays,” a 15 percent discount. The Kohl’s discount is valid in-store only, every Monday – all year long – when customers show a valid Military ID, Military Dependent ID or Veteran ID at the point of purchase.

There are various types of free admission deals at these venues, but they all have different terms, so make sure you understand each venue’s requirement before you go.

Thanks to the generosity of The Home Depot Foundation, service members will receive free entry during all of Memorial Day weekend (Saturday, May 25th through Monday, May 27th.)
The deal applies to all active-duty, reserve, and veteran military personnel with valid ID.
Proper ID includes: copy of form DD214, Veteran ID card, Driver’s License with “Veteran” on it, or a Military ID card issued by Armed Forces.
NOTE: Free admission tickets are NOT available online. Service members and their families looking to take advantage of this special offer will have to do so by walking up to the ticket box office.
The deal includes 20% off regular admission for family members.
Participating museums across the country offer FREE family admission for active duty military families from Armed Forces Day through Labor Day.
