Let’s do the Time Warp again… and again… and again…
For those who don’t know, that cult classic known as The Rocky Horror Picture Show plays every Friday night at the Plaza Theatre in midtown Atlanta — with a live shadow cast.
Shadow cast means that amateur actors, in costume, strut their stuff in front of the screen and in the aisles, mirroring what’s happening in the film. Essentially, they pantomime the movie scenes.
A local group known as Lips Down on Dixie, or LDoD, gathers each week at the Plaza to perform the shadow cast under the screen. Their costumes, make-up, and props are planned to perfection. Their timing is impeccable.
While The Rocky Horror Picture Show runs year round, nearly every Friday night at 11 p.m., it’s especially fun to catch the movie with live shadow cast during the October spooky season.
Tickets are just $15 and there’s a small discount for childrens, seniors, and military (the price is $12.75).
If you buy tickets online, there’s a $1.50 service fee.
Since this is a recurring event, it’s a good idea to check the status before you head out.
The Plaza Theatre is located at:
1049 Ponce de Leon Ave.
