[exp] [/exp]If you want to “explore the West without leaving the South,” take the quick drive up I-75 to Cartersville to check out the Booth Western Art Museum. You’ll find exhibitions of the history of the American West, the Mythic West’s portrayal in books and stories, the Reel West’s influence on the popular Western film genre, and Cowboys & Cowgirls, to name a few.
To get in on the cheap, take advantage of Children’s Saturday on the second Saturday of the month. Children 12 & under get in free, paying only a $1 materials fee for an art activity, so round up the kids and a few of their friends & set off on an adventure. Mark your calendar for the next two Children’s Saturday events:
- November 8, 10:00 a.m. to noon., Benjamin Franklin & the Turkey
- December 13, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Jingle all the Way & a visit from Cowboy Santa
Want to get the whole family in for free? Stop by on the first Thursday of each month from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for free admission.
Admission to the Booth Western Art Museum is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors 65 & over, and $5 for students. Children 12 & under and active military personnel get in free. The Booth Western Art Museum is located at 501 Museum Dr., Cartersville.
