Get your lanterns ready for the Sandy Springs 2024 Take it to the River Lantern Parade! This community event takes place on Saturday, April 13th — which gives you a bit of time to pick up a lantern kit and customize your lantern.
Everyone is welcome to walk in the parade, which kicks off at the Steel Canyon Golf Club and continues through Morgan Falls Overlook Park to the Chattahoochee River — where water lanterns will sparkle on the water, including a 26-foot long albino alligator!
The parade steps off at 8:30 p.m.
Come early for pre-parade parade activities in the Steel Canyon Golf Club parking lot!
From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. you can enjoy food trucks, entertainment, and children’s activities — details below.
Steel Canyon Golf Club is located at 460 Morgan Falls Road in Sandy Springs.
If you don’t want to march with the parade, you can watch from a spot on the parade, anywhere along Morgan Falls Road.
NEW this year: An immersive display of larger-than-life lanterns at Morgan Falls Overlook Park — including Alice, the 25-foot albino alligator!

Pre-Parade Block Party
Before the parade begins, families gather to eat, dance, and have fun!
Before the sun sets, you can enjoy a live DJ and food trucks, in the parking lot at Steel Canyon Golf Club.
Pre-parade activities begin at 6:00 p.m. and continue until parade step off (approximately 8:30 p.m.)

Parking & shuttles
All vehicles must park at the lot located at 7840 Roswell Road.
There is NO PARKING at Morgan Falls Overlook Park or Steel Canyon Golf Club.
If you are using rideshare, please drop off at 7840 Roswell Road.
Once you park, walk to the Shuttle Stop.
The Shuttle Stop is located at the Sandy Springs Police Department (Building 300, near the Police Turtle statue – see photo).
Pre-Parade Shuttles run 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The shuttles will transport you from the Parking Lot to the Block Party at Steel Canyon Golf Club. If you are watching the parade, you can ride the shuttle to the Block Party, then walk along Morgan Falls Road to find a viewing location.
Make a lantern

Note that only LED battery powered lights are allowed — no flames.
Lantern kits are not free this year, but you can purchase one for as little as $6 (prices go up to $30).
