Taco Bell recently announced a FREE taco giveaway — with an interesting backstory.
In May 2023, Taco Bell filed legal petitions to do away with trademark restrictions on the phrase “Taco Tuesdays.” The goal was to allow any restaurant anywhere in the country to have a special offer and call it Taco Tuesday.
The trademark for Taco Tuesday was held by Taco John’s.
But recently, Taco John’s decided to abandon its fight to hold to hold onto the Taco Tuesday trademark registration.
This will benefit thousands of businesses across 49 states, allowing them to officially and freely celebrate “Taco Tuesdays.” Tacos for the win!
Celebrating with FREE tacos!
To celebrate the liberation of “Taco Tuesday,” Taco Bell will be hosting a Taco Tuesday Free-For-All celebration.
On September 12, 2023, the popular fast-food Mexican restaurant is funding a $5 million taco tab in partnership with DoorDash. The tab will cover a portion of taco fans’ orders from any participating Mexican restaurant.

2022 World Series Giveaway
Hey, America!
When the Phillies’ Kyld Schwarber stole second base (in the first inning!) in Game 1 of the 2022 World Series, he triggered Taco Bell’s Steal A Base, Steal A Taco offer. The taco chain offers the promotion every year, but the details are a little different this time.
And that means America gets to crunch on one of the Mexican fast-food restaurant’s most popular menu items at no cost.
Taco Bell Rewards members enjoy a FREE Doritos Locos Taco at participating locations — only via the Taco Bell app. If you’re not a member, you can still receive the reward — just sign-up here.
No purchase necessary, while supplies last.
How long is the offer available?
According to Taco Bell’s fine print: “Fans will receive a reward of one Doritos Locos Taco provided the eligible fan has a Taco Bell Rewards Program account on the Taco Bell mobile app no later than 10 days following Taco Bell’s official announcement of the stolen base. Rewards expire 10 days following the official announcement.” As a result, the offer should be available through November 6th.
The chain also offers its Happier Hour special every day from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. With the special, get a regular Freeze or medium drink for just $1. For an even bigger score, combine the two deals for maximum savings — a taco and drink for just one buck.
More food and drink deals:
If there’s a comeback win in the NBA Finals, everyone in the country will get a FREE Flamin’ Hot Doritos Locos Taco from Taco Bell.
This promotion marks the limited time return of the Flamin’ Hot Doritos Locos Taco, which was hugely popular when it was initially introduced in April of 2020.
The offer is valid only IF a team that is losing at halftime makes a comeback and wins a game in the NBA Finals.
To trigger this conditional promotion, the comeback has to happen in just one NBA final game — so the chances are good it will happen. In fact, a comeback from a halftime deficit has happened in 7 of the last 10 NBA Finals.
The Phoenix Suns will play the winner of the Easter Conference Finals (either Milwaukee Bucks or Atlanta Hawks) in the NBA Finals, starting July 8th, 2021.
If the offer is triggered, we’ll share info on how and when you can redeem it for your FREE Flamin’ Hot Doritos Locos Taco.
