[exp] [/exp]This is an awesome opportunity, and you still have two weeks left to take advantage of it. Some events may require you to RSVP, so act soon to save your spot:
On September 15 & 22, 2011, the Woodruff Arts Center will host Target Family Thursdays. What does that mean for you? There’ll be free school-day & after-school activities that the whole family will enjoy.
From 9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m., the activities have a toddler focus-there’ll be Theatre for the Very Young performance of A Child’s Garden of Verses (ideal for ages 18 months-5 years), storytellers, a Parents & Tots Acting Workshop, & more. If you miss out on the free tickets to A Child’s Garden of Verses, it’s still a fairly inexpensive outing–tickets are $10 each, and performances run through September 24. Even better: If you call 404-733-4702 & mention Atlanta on the Cheap, you can buy one ticket & get one for 50% off.
From 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., kids in elementary-high school can participate in acting workshops, art making classes, & more. And at 7:30 p.m., those ages 10+ can attend a performance of Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” (it looks awesome, by the way; I’m going in late September).
There’s pre-show entertainment in the lobby, too, including balloon animals, face painting, a wandering artist, & more.
Oh, and there’s free admission to the High Museum of Art (walk-up tickets available at the admission’s desk on a first-come, first-served basis). Thursdays are Toddler Thursdays at the High, with themed arts activities for toddlers from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., and there’ll be family museum tours at 4:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m., too.
The Woodruff Arts Center is located at 1280 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta.
