Downtown Decatur is making the 2019 holiday season a little more special, with a series of Thursday night events — beginning on November 7th and continuing through December 19th.
Terrific Thursdays will feature shopping deals and discounts, plus treats and holiday fun.
The “shopportunities” will be available at 20+ participating shops in the downtown Decatur business district. Plus, these businesses will stay open later and offer beverages and snacks while you shop.
You’ll also find pop-up shopping events and holiday happenings on the Square.

November 7th
Ornament Unveiling – free to attend
6:30 p.m.
Wild Oats and Billy Goats, 112 E. Ponce de Leon Ave.
There are six styles of holiday ornaments for you to collect or to give. This is the eighth collection of handcrafted ornaments commissioned by the Decatur Tourism Bureau and the Decatur Arts Alliance. Even if you don’t attend the unveiling, you can purchase the ornaments at participating downtown shops
November 14th
Wine & Chocolate Walk — $10 per ticket
6-9 p.m.
Purchase a ticket through Fresthtix and enjoy an evening of chocolate treats and wine tastings at participating shops. Check in at the white tent on the square to pick up your bag, wine glass and map. NOTE: Freshtix adds a $3 fee to your ticket.

November 21st
Cookie Night — free to attend
You’ll find a cookie-tasting extravaganza at participating Terrific Thursday shops. Sample the cookie creation at each shop and vote for your favorite on social media.
December 5th
Tree Lighting – free to attend
7 p.m. on the Square
Enjoy holiday carols, warm cookies, hot cocoa, and “snow” on the square.
At 7 p.m. sharp, Santa himself flips the switch to light the tree above the east entrance to the Decatur MARTA station.
December 12th
Bonfire + Marshmallow Roast – free to attend
7 to 8 p.m. on the Square
Roast marshmallows around a roaring bonfire!
Please RSVP for this free event through Freshtix, so the organizers know how many marshmallows to buy.
Hosted by the Decatur Business Association and supervised by the Decatur Fire Department.
December 19th
Shop, shop, shop!
Expect plenty of special sales at participating retailers.
