Theatrical Outfit presents the classic play A Raisin in the Sun, live on stage from September 11th to October 6th, 2024.
The play has been revived many times since its debut on Broadway in 1959.
The plot, with no spoilers:
A Raisin in the Sun portrays a few weeks in the life of the Youngers, a Black family living on the South Side of Chicago in the 1950s. It comes to Atlanta with a fresh look at an American classic that proves to be as provocative and powerful today as it was in 1959. Lena Younger has decided to use her late husband’s life insurance to move her family out of their cramped apartment on Chicago’s South Side. Her son, Walter Lee, has other ideas. This powerful new co-production fearlessly interrogates the American dream in the face of racial and economic strife.

There are both evening performances and afternoon matinees on weekends.
Run time is 2 hours and 30 minutes, with a 15-minute intermission.
Prices
Full-price tickets are $45 to $60 for regular seating, depending on the day of the week.

Discounted preview shows
You can book preview show tickets for just $25 (adults) and $15 (youth/students).
The preview dates are Wednesday, Sept. 11th and Thursday, Sept. 12th.
Pay-What-You-Can Night
Most Wednesdays during the run of a production (check official show pages for dates) are pay-what-you-can (with a minimum of $1). These tickets must be purchased in person at the Box Office, beginning one hour before show time. Availability may vary.

At every performance, there are at least 15 seats that go for just $15 each — no special status or promo code needed. You’ll see those seats available for selection on the seating chart when you buy your ticket. They are often marked in yellow, with regular price seats in red.
While the 15@$15 seats are quite often off to the far left and right, remember that this is a 200-seat theater with perfect sight lines from every chair. This is nothing like paying for the $80 obstructed-view seats at the Fox!

If you want to park downtown, Theatrical Outfit offers discounted parking vouchers for two nearby parking venues. Street parking is FREE on Sundays, along Forsyth St. Keep in mind that parking gets harder to find and more expensive when there are multiple events happening downtown.
