About the venue
The William Root House was constructed during the 1840s and is the oldest house remaining in downtown Marietta. The home and grounds have been restored to their 1860 appearance. Today, modern touchscreens and interactive displays help tell the story of the Root family and their enslaved house servants. There is also a gift shop and visitor center.
The gardens are historically accurate as well. They include ornamental plantings and a traditional kitchen garden with vegetables and medicinal herbs.
The William Root House is located at:
80 N Marietta Parkway NW
